Miebach and Indiana University Develop the Next Generation of Supply Chain Talent
01.10.2026
Miebach served as a judge and case sponsor for the 2026 Supply Chain and Operations Management Association (SCOMA) Case Competition at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Fourteen student teams developed solutions to a real-world supply chain challenge created by Miebach, competing for $5,000 in prize money.
2026 SCOMA Case Competition:
Solving a real-world supply chain challenge
|
Students were asked to advise a company carrying record inventory while still falling short of its service target. Their challenge was to develop a strategy that improved product availability while reducing inventory investment.
The competition gives students an opportunity to apply their supply chain knowledge in a consulting environment, balancing analytical rigor with the decision-making and communication skills required to turn analysis into action.
The strongest teams stood out by connecting their recommendations to the broader business challenge. They balanced competing priorities, supported their decisions with clear reasoning, and demonstrated how their solutions could work in practice. They also communicated their thinking clearly and outlined a realistic path to implementation. |

The 2026 judging panel included four Miebach consultants and Indiana University alumni:
- Michael White, Senior Consultant, IU Class of 2018
- Michael Morasca, Senior Consultant, IU Class of 2019
- Alex Weick, Consultant, IU Class of 2023
- Jennifer Gillman, Analyst, IU Class of 2025
Together, the panel evaluated each team’s approach, challenged their assumptions, and brought perspectives from their own supply chain consulting experience.

From the classroom to a career in supply chain
The SCOMA Case Competition gives Miebach a different way to engage with Indiana University students beyond traditional recruiting. By working directly with Miebach consultants, students gain insight into supply chain consulting, the types of challenges our teams solve, and what a career at Miebach can look like.
The competition also creates an early connection with students who may be interested in joining Miebach. That connection can continue through internship and full-time opportunities, making the event a valuable entry point for emerging talent.
As Miebach’s partnership with Indiana University continues, the competition remains an opportunity to invest in future supply chain professionals while building relationships with students who could one day become part of our team.
