Eight months at Miebach – a brief interim summary
19.02.2026 | By Paul Koll, Miebach
I have now been with Miebach for around eight months, and I must say that I feel extremely comfortable here.
Before switching to consulting, I was a working student in a strategy consultancy. At the same time, another topic has been on my mind for the last seven years: my mother's company. They manufacture sustainable interior products, and I have experienced all aspects of running a start-up. This included creating logistics concepts, discussing production processes, and having direct customer contact, both online and offline.
During this time, I knew I wanted a job that was just as diverse, flexible, and challenging. In other words: consulting.
So, how did I end up at Miebach? To be honest, I searched for “best management consultancy” on Kununu. Miebach came top, and it was only the second application I had ever made – I am incredibly happy that it worked out.
I am currently part of the Transformation Management team, and I don't think it could be any more varied. I am currently supporting three very different clients on three very different projects:
- A tender that is very technical and analytical,
- a training project with go-live support that requires a lot of moderation, pedagogy, and process knowledge,
- and the redesign of an organizational chart, where sensitivity, thoughtfulness, and experience are particularly important.
This gives me the opportunity to gain insight into a wide range of topics, processes and teams, and to learn something new from each one.
It is becoming increasingly clear to me that, when it comes to logistics, many people first think of trucks, technology, and automation. Ultimately, however, it is people who make it all possible. Technology can change processes, but people remain at the heart of what we do.
I have also learned that consultants are not always experts. Often, they are more like a toolbox that knows which tool is needed at any given moment – or where to find it.
I am particularly looking forward to working at the Production Competence Center, which is about to launch. After all, I studied industrial engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering, and I will soon be able to draw on my technical background there.
My conclusion after eight months: I am grateful to have ended up here and excited to see what lies ahead.
How did you get started in consulting? Or what motivated you to take the leap?
