New perspectives in Supply Chain Consulting: A New Beginning Full of Challenges and Opportunities

07.08.2024 | By Wei Ming Hauschild, Miebach

The beginning of last year marked a new start for me: transitioning into the world of consulting at Miebach. After over ten years in production management at a mid-sized technology company, I was looking for new challenges and opportunities to broaden my horizons. Following a dual study program in industrial engineering, a trainee program, and various positions in lean and production management, it was time for me to step out of my comfort zone. The decision fell on Miebach, and in hindsight, it was one of the best decisions of my professional journey.

A New Beginning Full of Challenges and Opportunities

A Learning Adventure

From the very beginning, my entry at Miebach was characterized by an intensive learning process. At Miebach, there are two central elements for this: on the one hand, “learning by doing” in projects, and on the other hand, intensive and exciting training weeks with international colleagues. This combination allowed me to directly apply theoretical knowledge in practice while benefiting from the experiences of others.

Responsibility and Diversity

After a short time, I was given responsibility for tasks in challenging projects. Without a doubt: a challenge and at the same time a great motivation. The diversity of projects and the opportunity to gain experience in different teams made each week exciting and educational. Complementary internal projects offer the opportunity to contribute and further develop one’s strengths and interests.

From Trainee to Trainer

A special highlight of my first year at Miebach was the opportunity to improve the internal onboarding process at Miebach and being appointed as a trainer for new colleagues. I am now responsible for creating a training concept and implementing it. After less than two years, this task offers me great creative freedom and the opportunity to pass on my ideas and experiences, as well as to better support new colleagues in their start at Miebach.

Challenges and Positive Surprises

The transition to consulting also brought challenges. The dynamics and pace of the projects were initially unfamiliar and challenging to me. A positive surprise was the young and supportive environment at Miebach and a work environment that, despite exciting challenges, makes a good work-life balance possible. I have come to know Miebach as a place that offers a wide range of tasks both inside and outside of project with many doors that open when there is self-motivation and openness to new things.

New Perspectives and a changed Workday

Today, my workday is characterized by a high variety of tasks and projects. The opportunity to work in different teams and constantly learn new things makes my job incredibly varied and exciting. The balance between operational and conceptual tasks offers me new challenges and learning opportunities every day. Exactly what I had hoped for before my transition.

Conclusion

My start in supply chain consulting at Miebach was a time full of challenges, learning opportunities, and personal development. The decision to switch after over ten years in the corporate world has proven to be completely right for me.
